Wishing all of you a very Happy, Healthy and Harmonious New Year for 2011 from all of us at CELT!
Since the inception of CELT on 9 March 2010, much has developed on the campus in regard to teaching and learning. The Blue Ribbon Commission (BRC) Report has been a key driver, as is the changing profile of the student demography (Gen Y, techno-savvy, hyper-connected, multitasking people like your kids, nieces and nephews).
For this new year, we decided to create a blog. The purpose of the momeNTUm blog is to serve as a broad 2-way communication platform for ideas exchange, information diffusion, and feedback channel of our role, plans and programs with the campus community. We see this blog as important in the light of the evolution of current teaching-learning landscape in the University.
As the name aptly implies, the campus is in dynamics. As it progresses, it gains momentum (hence, the blog name). As it moves forward, it is essential that the campus community be kept abreast of initiatives, developments and direction. More importantly – and this is the main reason for the use of a blog – feedback, comments, suggestions and even criticism will not only be important to us, but welcomed. The “wisdom of crowds” is a philosophy that I subscribe too (as well as the awareness in the “foolishness of the mob” – a fine line sometimes separates the two!).
What can you expect in the future from this blog? We will be sharing not only theĀ what we do/will be doing, but theĀ how, when and the why and sometimes, the why not. Entries will be tagged for easy reference. We will still use email as the primary means to reach out to you; the blog will complement, archive and expand the details.
As partners, what do we expect from you? Your feedback, comments and thoughts, for in this journey, we walk and fellowship together.
Live long and prosper!
